This French Climbing Rose is Zepherine Drouhin which was first introduced in 1868 in France. It has a wonderful rich, old rose perfume scent. I sure wish that you could smell it!
Backside of swing and arbor with French Zepherine Drouhin rose climbing and blooming.
Another view of the backside of our swing and arbor which is my favorite spot in my yard.
The side of the arbor featuring purple American wisteria, pink French climbing rose and a very large rose colored Knockout rose.
Here they are: my older daughter Jennifer, my husband Jack and my grandson, little Jack Aidan. Jenn and Grandpa were showing little Jack how to smell the flowers.
More blue skies and more climbing roses. There must be over a thousand rose blooms on the two white Jackson Perkins climbing roses on the black rose arbor on the side of our house!
Yes, we had to show little Jack how to smell these white roses too!

ReplyDeletei so miss my beautiful garden i had in california. i don't think roses would fair well in this red virginia clay we've around here.
You have a beautiful garden. I wouldn't mind sitting in it for a few hours and smelling the roses myself.
ReplyDeleteWow. Your roses are way ahead of ours here in Seattle. I love the Zepherine Drouhin. We had one on an arbor and it was wonderful for a few years, and then it began to succomb to our damp climate. When it no longer could keep any leaves we took it out last winter. We have hopes for it's replacement.
ReplyDeleteDouble WOW! Such gorgeous roses. This house we just got has roses out front, but they have bee sadly neglected (thrips, I think) and I don't know what kind they are. Just coming in to bloom . . .
ReplyDeleteI love your old fashioned Poses...I'm a self confessed Rose nut.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see your family as well.
