Evergreen Country Club is off state route 15 in a lovely wooded housing development that has large homes on five acre lots. This land used to be a part of a 1000 acre pre-civil war plantation. In the photo above the original house is the white stucco middle section. The beautiful rock wings to each side of the middle section of the home were added by a later owner in the 1920's before the stock market crashed and the Great Depression began. Plans have been created to restore this home so to raise money for the restoration work five summer concerts this year have been planned. These photos were taken at the second concert on Friday June 18 which featured the band Standing Room Only that played classic rock.
June 18 was a lovely day with blue skies and cool temps for a change of pace.
People brought the babies, old ladies, kids of assorted ages, their lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy a summer evening under the stars. The concert was free but all profits from the sale of food and drinks went to support the restoration of the Evergreen plantation home. Our family has enjoyed three of these concerts and two more will be coming up later in July.
July 18 The Wil Gravatt Band will play country music
July 23 Glass Onion Band will play Beatles music.
The band performed on the backside of the home that had a small covered porch.
Here is the front side of the home with its majestic two story white pillars and old boxwood evergreens..

As the sun was beginning to fade in the west golfers were still golfing or enjoying the Friday night happy hour on the patio of the golf club.
The old rock walled formal garden is always set up with white chairs in the summertime for wedding ceremonies. In the distance you can see the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.
Hope you enjoyed your virtual tour of the Evergreen Country Club and remember if you are a local the two remaining concerts in July.
