Even on a grey August day the old cobbled streets

and the brick sidewalks

and the gaslamps

in old town Alexandria, Virginia make it a fun place to have lunch at an outdoor cafe.

My lunch companions: Jack and daughter Jeanine.

Jack and Joann: A happily retired couple who live in a golf course community in Virginia, but don't golf. Jack grew up in Hale, Missouri. Joann grew up in Russia, Ohio.
