Blue Hydrangia

Blue Hydrangia
September 2009
Acid soil makes the blossom blue. Alkaline soil makes the blossom pink. Sometimes the soil is a mix so you get a mix of colors in the blossoms or else the blossom is lavender. I like them any old way. And apparently so do the deer that come in off the golf course because this year I have had very few blossoms. I need to enjoy this one that escaped the deer's notice.

Beautiful - and I had no idea the color was related to different soil composition.

My grandparents had huge bushes of this very color of hydrangea in their yard. I always thought they were so beautiful. Thanks for bringing me back some lovely memories of my youth!
