Skywatch Friday = Meadow Farms Nursery

Skywatch Friday = Meadow Farms Nursery
The Place For Plants At A Good Price And Excellent Service
This is what I wanted this morning at the nursery: fall mums.

I told myself don't look at anything else and then get tempted to buy something else.

A sign like this greets you at every Meadows Farms Nursery in Virginia and there has to be over a dozen of these places around northern Virginia. This is a great success story. Farmer Bill Meadows and wife Betty were from the coal mines of West Virginia. After graduating from Marshall University they came to Fairfax County to teach. To make a little extra money during the summers Bill Meadows and his wife started selling plants along the roadside. The business grew each summer until finally Bill gave up teaching and became a full time nurseryman. Betty soon followed him. Today these two poor kids from West Virginia have a net worth of over seventy million dollars! Impressive huh!
Bill Meadows claims that the secret to success is three things for every customer:
1. The best possible Price.
2. The best possible Product.
3. The best possible Service.
Wife Betty Meadows with the help of Cindy Day has written a book detailing their success story.
The title is Nearly Perfect An American Success Story. I have read Betty's book and now know why the title is what it is.Their life today is nearly perfect but there have been some bad moments: particularly when losing their teenage daughter Cindy in an horrific auto accident and when Betty was fighting breast cancer.
But these two are survivors. Now look again at this book photo. This is what Betty surprised Bill with for their 50'th Wedding Anniversary: a brand new Rolls Royce. Note the license plate. It says FARMER 1. Bill and Betty in this Rolls Royce can now hobnob with the D.C. elite like Willard Scott, George Allen's son and Joe Gibbs. And when Bill and Betty go back to West Virginia they stay at that 5 star resort, The Greenbriar, in White Sulphur Springs.
Well now that you have learned about Farmer Bill and Wife Betty Meadows you now can scoot over to some other Skywatch Friday memes by clicking here:

I love the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia too! Everyone, especially photographers, should see it at least once in a lifetime.

Looks like you were surrounded by beauty when taking these photos!

Interesting story about the Meadow Farms nursery. It's good to know that people can still come from the bottom and achieve success in our country.
