Tropical Flowers At The Castle

In the summertime the Smithsonian Castle has an outdoor display of tropical plants. Jack and I toured the castle early Saturday morning before going to the Folklife Festival. We came early so that it would be easy to find a parking spot for our car on Seventh Street and we did find a great spot to park the car. This is a case where the early bird gets the worm.....er, I mean parking spot.
As you can see there were lots of tropical plants on display. We noticed many local folks enjoying the beauty of the gardens while quietly sitting and reading a book or the morning Washington Post.

I loved these big round flower balls. They stood out againt all the lush green of the trees and lawn.

I don't know what kind of plant this is but it surly was doing well. There must have been at least two dozen of these plants hanging from the lightpole arches.
