The Eighth Day of Christmas January 1, 2009

The Eighth Day of Christmas
New Year's Day
January 1, 2009
Look at the picture above. This was a sideboard in the Pinewood Estate at Lake Wales, Florida. The dining room was decorated to convey the feel of visions of sugar plums dancing in your head while viewing the faux cakes, pies and desserts that were displayed on Depression glass plates with faux carnival glass lights to denote the era of the 1930's. What can I say but what is old is new again. 2009 the new era of Depression glass plates and carnival glass lights.
I also thought this display looked a little bit like a Rose Bowl Parade Float.
Will you watch the parade later this morning? Or is your mind focused on visions of New Year's football bowl games? I must admit that I watch the Rose Bowl Parade every year because it brings back memories of doing so in Ohio in the '50s and '60s. But when the football games take over all the networks I sit down and make my New Years Resolutions List.
Happy New Year!
Auld Lang Syne
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
So I raise my cup and salute my special blogging buddies blog sites:
