The Eleventh Day of Christmas

The Eleventh Day of Christmas

Another Christmas Scene and Story From
Pinewood Estate at Lake Wales, Florida

Last night Jack and I took in the Festival of Lights at Bull Run Regional Park which is partly in Fairfax County and partly in Prince William County where we currently live. I always love the light display. Our kids had already done the festival so we thought we better do it quick before it disappears. Afterwards a stop at Starbucks for Jack----Jack, coffee; Joann, tea; please. But what we noticed on our evening outing was that a lot of Christmas displays have disappeared already. I guess Saturday was the deciding day to take down outdoor lights since the wind was not blowing and it was relatively warm outside. Either that or every homeowner got their January electric bill in the mail. Uh-ohhhhhhh.......honey, the lights are coming down, NOW! But since we don't do much in the way of outdoor lights ours are still up and getting lit each night. And the house still has a festive air with all our decorations. I don't take the decorations down till the twelve days of Christmas plus one are officially over.

So now take a look above. This was the main living room of Mr. Buck at Pinewood in the 1930's. See the massive fireplace and the Christmas story acted out by the nativity scene figures. Very nice. Another place to still see Christmas is at church this Sunday morning. I call this the real Christmas display instead of the commercial buy, buy, buy, Christmas. See you in church today. OK.

We're beginning the take down today. I've enjoyed being surrounded by the beauty of the decorations inside and outside of the house, but it is time for me to move on. The best way for me to do that is to put it all away and clean house. The spare look will be a shock, but also a pleasant change, and certainly easier to dust!

Our decorations are down. My wife could not live with them any longer. The older we get the less decorating is done by us.
