What's Blooming in My Garden in January

This is heath, a close relative to heather, and it is the only thing blooming currently in my flower beds. I like it because it blooms when most else is dormant or cut back to the ground. It is also easy maintenance. Don't do anything to it. Don't fertilize it like other plants because that will cause brown dead spots. Don't cut it back. It stays low and neat. And the bad bugs stay away from it. So it is the perfect winter flower for lazy gardeners. The buds are very tiny. To see them better enlarge this photo by clicking on it. Have a great last Sunday in January!

Now that's the kind of plants to have in the yard. Sounds like no work involved, my kind of planting. LOL Have a great Sunday.

Joann: I wonder how that would grow under the snow. It is a neat plant.

We had a touch of snow here last night and it's in the mid 30s. No gardening today. I'm making soup and planning to start on a sewing project. Tom is off to take a class in glass blowing, just for the fun of it.
I usually do a 'What's Blooming On January 1" photo display every year, but this year everything was frozen up. I do have a few things blooming, and other things are awakening and stiring up through the soil.

That's my kind of plant!!! Low maintenance, fend for yourself kind of guy.

I really love Linda's idea. It would be really neat to see- if you took one garden, and from the exact same spot, photo it the first of each. Then at the end of the year out all the ohotos side by side! I think that would really be neat!
