The high school students in our neighborhood attend a beautiful brand spanking new school that opened in the fall of 2004 and this past June the first class of students that attended it for all four years of high school graduated. Many of these graduates came home this weekend for the homecoming football game on Friday and the homecoming dance on Saturday.
We invited one of our dear neighbors to bring over her daughter who was going to the homecomig dance to take some photos in our gardens. So here is Carol and here is her daughter modeling the deep purple dress and bag that she selected for the homecoming dance. We didn't get to see or photograph prince charming who was her date for the evening. But isn't this girl beautiful!
Oh, to be young and beautiful and going to your very first homecoming dance---what a delight. Better yet, to be the mother who gets to experience this big event in her daughter's life---what a touching moment to shed tears of joy and delight.
Purple Rain, Purple Rain
(Tears of Joy and Delight)
Purple Rain, Purple Rain
By the way, the school colors for Battlefield High School (which is named Battlefield because The Manassas Civil War Battlefield is just about five miles down the road ) are purple, black and gold. The mascot is the bulldog. The introductory song on my music list, Unchained Melody, would be my choice for a homecoming "slow dance " song. Battlefield High School students who go on to attend James Madison University down #81 will learn that JMU has the same colors and mascot.
